Judi Davis has had the wonderful opportunity of being able to combine her love of teaching and passion for photography into a career that has spanned over 40 years. While working as teacher and school counselor in the Portland Public Schools, she set-up darkrooms in two middle schools where she offered classes in Photography & Journalism. Her work has been shown in juried shows, including Da Vinci & Buckman Schools Art Shows, Multnomah Art Center, and with the Geezer Gallery at the Artist Repertory Theater. Wanting to share her love and memories, as a native Portlander, she authored and photographed a successful book, “Around Portland with Kids”. This project also inspired her to develop the card deck, “GoPlayFamilies”. Shortly after retiring from teaching, Judi was asked to develop and teach a photo class to students in Honduras. She returned for two more years. This experience provided her motivation for creating PhotoCamp PDX. This week long camp, offered throughout the year, provides students the opportunity to compose and capture images, and provides students a rich voice to share their passions, dreams and joys.
